Raw Food
You are what you
eat. Truer words were never spoken. I guess if you want to be specific, you're not the exact food that you just
ate, but you are a direct product of what you consume.
There's a saying in
the computer world, garbage in, garbage out. It actually pertains to programming, if you put bad data in, you get
bad data out.
With the horrible
diets many people poison themselves with on a daily basis, it's no wonder that we're seeing higher numbers of obese
people in the United States than ever before. The obesity problem is also out of control in children. The number of
cases of childhood Diabetes is also at a never before seen level and growing daily.
If people would
start to make even small changes in their diets, the changes would be profound. By adding living, raw food to your
diet, you provide what is essential in order for your body to thrive, heal itself and fight off
diseases.
Raw food, in the
form of fresh vegetable (and fruit) juice is reasonable priced, quick and easy to prepare and can take you from
leading a lethargic, depressed, sickly existence, to living a vibrant, energy-filled, healthy, long disease-free
life.
Unforunately most
people believe if they add a couple cooked vegetables to dinner, all is well. The truth is that depending on the
vegetables and how long they are cooked, up to 75% of the life-sustaining nutrients can be lost. Add to that the
fact that they are often cooked in heavy butter and pretty soon you don't have much of a healthy food at
all.
There's obviously
nothing wrong with cooking your vegetables, but it's better to lightly steam or bake them in an oven. It's the
excessive heat that is responsible for destroying the enzymes, the life-promoting
elements. Enzymes are the catalyst for the hundreds of thousands of chemical
reactions that occur throughout the body.
Of course the
fast food diets, frozen dinners and even junk food will sustain life, but they will not provide the nutrition
necessary to promote a healthy, disease resistant body that can be expected to live a long
life.
Many in the
United States eat plenty, often times several times more than the calories they need, but they are empty calories,
nearly devoid of what their bodies want and needs. It's almost a slow starvation even though the person may be
obese, and always full.
When you realize
that not only are these individuals not getting the enzymes and other needed nutrition, they are getting
all the contaminants in the form of preservatives, fillers, fats and untold numbers of other poisons to their
bodies. You'll understand why it is so important to make raw foods a substantial part of your regular
diet.
